ChatGPT-3 vs ChatGPT-4: What Marketers Need to Know

Updated: May 2, 2023

Generative AI is all the rage in the marketing world right now. While it has been an area of interest for some time, the craze really took off with the release of OpenAI's GPT-3 and its impressive language generation capabilities.

As a successor to GPT-3, the much-anticipated GPT-4 has been eagerly awaited by the marketing community. With the promise of even more advanced language processing, the release of GPT-4 is certainly surrounded by a lot of hype. Now that the wait is over and ChatGPT-4 is here, let's take a look at whats new, whats different and what matters.

What is Chat GPT-4?

ChatGPT-4 is the fourth generation of OpenAI's GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) language model, a state-of-the-art AI system that uses deep learning to generate human-like text. The GPT series of models have been used for a range of applications, from language translation to generating content for social media. The latest iteration, GPT-4, is expected to be even more powerful than its predecessors, with new features that allow it to generate even more human-like text.

GPT-3 vs GPT-4: What’s New and Improved?

The latest iteration of the groundbreaking language model, GPT-4, has brought with it a slew of astonishing new features that continue to push the limits of artificial intelligence.

Better Long-Form Content

One of the most significant improvements in ChatGPT-4 is its ability to generate coherent and meaningful text over longer lengths. Previous models tended to produce repetitive or nonsensical text when asked to generate longer pieces of content.

ChatGPT-4 addresses this issue with a new architecture that allows it to better understand the context of the text it is generating. This means that it can generate longer, more complex pieces of content, such as product descriptions or blog posts, with a higher degree of accuracy and coherence.

More Diverse Content

Another new feature in ChatGPT-4 is its ability to generate more varied and diverse content. Previous models tended to produce similar text, particularly when generating content around a specific topic. ChatGPT-4 addresses this issue with a new algorithm that allows it to generate more diverse content. This means that it can generate multiple versions of a piece of content, each with a slightly different tone or style.

It Understands Visual Inputs

Perhaps the most notable addition that GPT-4 brings, is its ability to coherently generate text from images.

Imagine being able to simply upload an image, and GPT-4 will produce a precise and eloquent description of it, detailing all the visual aspects and even providing further context if necessary. GPT-4’s image to text capability can revolutionize the way we interact and extract information from visuals, like infographics, charts, and memes (of course!).

This feature is the most impressive to me, as it truly emphasizes how far artificial intelligence has come when it comes to understanding and interpreting our world. As the utilization of GPT-4's image-to-text feature continues to grow, it will be fascinating to observe how it paves the way for future advancements and applications.

Accessibility for the Visually Impaired

GPT-4 also packs a slew of features aimed at transforming the way people with visual impairments access and interact with the world around them. Its state-of-the-art natural language processing capabilities enable users to communicate their thoughts and needs more effectively. By converting text into synthesized and fluent speech, GPT-4 assists in grasping essential information from digital sources like websites, books, and applications.

Additionally, GPT-4 collaborates with other devices, like screen readers and braille displays, creating a seamless integration and enhanced user experience. This could potentially empower individuals with visual disabilities by breaking down barriers and providing increased opportunities in education, work, and social connectivity in a largely digital environment.

Can ChatGPT-4 be Used Any Differently for Marketing?

ChatGPT-4 can be used in the same way as GPT-3, but with better quality. It can be used to generate blog posts, social media posts, lead magnet ideas, product descriptions, content summaries and other types of content quickly and easily.

ChatGPT-4 can also be used for customer service. Chatbots powered by ChatGPT-4 can be trained to respond to customer queries and provide support. This can help businesses to provide a better customer experience while reducing the workload on customer service teams.

I think the biggest potential application for ChatGPT-4 is in research and analytics. ChatGPT-4 has the ability to analyze vast amounts of data and generate insights from that data. Marketers can use GPT-4 to make strategic optimizations by using it to process data such as website analytics, campaign performance, keywords lists and more. For research, marketers can use GPT-4 to analyze customer reviews and survey responses to provide insights into consumer sentiment, preferences, and behaviors. This can be especially useful when conducting a competitive landscape analysis.

Challenges to Consider

While ChatGPT-4 has many potential applications for marketing, there are also some challenges to consider. One of the main challenges is the need for high-quality training data. To generate accurate and useful content, ChatGPT-4 needs to be trained on large volumes of high-quality data. Companies must consider how to integrate ChatGPT-4 into their existing marketing channels, such as social media or customer service platforms, and ensure that it is properly trained and monitored to maintain a consistent user experienceThis can be time-consuming and expensive, particularly for small businesses.

A major challenge with the general use of AI in marketing is the risk of generating biased, inaccurate or inappropriate content. ChatGPT-4 is only as unbiased as the data it is trained on, and there is a risk that it could generate content that is discriminatory, offensive or downright incorrect. Businesses must be careful to monitor and edit the content generated by ChatGPT-4 and ensure its quality.

ChatGPT-4 Pricing and Availability

Currently, ChatGPT-4 is only available to ChatGPT Plus users, which is OpenAI’s subscription plan that costs $20 per month. As it turns out, if you’re a Bing user, you may have some experience with ChatGPT-4 already, as Microsoft revealed that Bing Chat (Bing’s aptly-named chatbot, which was co-developed with OpenAI) is currently running on GPT-4.

Will ChatGPT-4 Dramatically Change the Game?

The development of ChatGPT-4 underscores the potential of artificial intelligence and gives marketers a powerful tool at their disposal and points to future advancements in conversational AI.

The improved accuracy and effectiveness of ChatGPT-4 surely sounds promising but only time will tell what its impact will be for digital marketing. In any case, AI is a great supplemental tool for marketing teams, but it should never be used as a crutch.
